The following details current policies of Acenet
Internet Services P/L (Acenet) for Subscriber accounts. They should be read in
conjunction with the company's Subscriber Agreement form.
Acenet reserves the right to alter these policies at
any time without notice to the Subscriber.
Standard Hourly User
Accounts
Internet Access is provided on the following basis.
Dial in
Access
a. Internet Access is limited to 56K or 64k ISDN modems.
b. The
minimum available block of hours to purchase is 25 hours.
c. There is
no set up fee provided subscriber sets up their own computer.
d. Multiple simultaneous connections from
different locations is permissible.
e. Multi Modem, simultaneous connections from the
same computer (Multilink) is permissible.
f.
Should
an account balance fall below 15 minutes, access to the Internet will be
suspended.
g. The minimum increment of access usage is one
second.
h. All blocks of internet hours have a two (2)
year expiry date.
i.
Standard
hourly accounts detected causing excessive flows indicative of virus, spyware
or spam activity are subject to disconnection and suspension. The account will
remain suspended until the problem is rectified.
Email
a. One
email account is provided for each dial in account.
b. Maximum email size is 10 Mb per individual
email.
c. Maximum contents per individual mailbox at any
one time is 50 Mb.
d. Mail left in mailboxes for over 3 months will
be deleted.
e. Maximum amount of email messages per
individual mailbox is 1000.
f.
Worldclient
trash and sent items folders are cleared every 7 days.
g. When an account becomes inactive, email will
continue to be collected for 7 days. After this time incoming email will be
rejected. Any email that remains in the mailbox after 7 days after the account
becomes inactive, the email will be deleted.
h. If there is no usage of the Internet access
account by way of dial in for a reasonable period (currently 30 days), Acenet
reserves the right to suspend email, FTP and/or Web services until usage
resumes.
i.
POP
session mail collection schedules/intervals to Acenet mail servers must be set
to a minimum of 10 minutes. Acenet reserves the right to disconnect any email
account collecting POP3 mail at an interval of less than 10 minutes.
j.
Backups
of email messages, address books and/or worldclient settings are not provided.
k. Email spam filtering is provided free and by
default for each individual mailbox. Written notification must be provided to
be exempt from the spam filtering service.
l.
Acenet
is not responsible for any email message that is not delivered, received or
appears missing.
Homepages
a. One
homepage space is provided. Maximum size is 20 Mb.
b.
Traffic
to and from the homepage is limited to 20Mb per month. Traffic in excess of 20 Mb
will be billed to the user at a rate of 15 cents per Mb.
c.
When
an account becomes inactive, access to the homepage will be suspended. After 7
days the homepage will be removed and the contents deleted.
d.
Access
to files in homepage space is provided through FTP only.
e.
Users
must be connected to Acenet to use FTP to connect to their homepage.
f.
Backups
of homepages are not provided.
Other
a.
Acenet
will refund a subscribers’ fee provided they request this within 7 days, and
have used less than 5 hours.
b.
Acenet
provides setup disks and instruction sheets to configure your internet
connection. Telephone support for
internet configuration may incur at $25 fee.
c.
Telephone
support is for basic Internet set-up, getting connected, Browser set-up and/or
Email set-up. Subscribers are expected to have followed the set-up instructions
and/or run the setup disk first before requesting telephone support. Support on
any other issue will not be given.
Unlimited Hours Accounts
Internet Access is provided on the following basis.

four (4) hour session limit applies.
g. Data usage is calculated in megabytes, 1000
megabytes = 1 gigabyte.
h. Extra megabyte usage applies to data in excess
of the included data.
i.
Extra
megabyte usage (download only) will be charged at 11 cents per megabyte. Extra
download charges are billed monthly in arrears. Extra megabyte usage applies to
data in excess of the included date.
j.
Downloads include any data
received from the internet by your modem.
k. Unlimited hours accounts detected causing
excessive flows indicative of virus, spyware or spam activity are subject to
disconnection and suspension. The account will remain suspended until the
problem is rectified.

period, must be given in writing with 30 days notice. Accounts terminated
without notice will continue to incur fees until 30 days after written notice
is received.
c. Acenet provides setup disks and instruction
sheets to configure your internet connection.
Telephone support for internet configuration may incur at $25 fee.
d. Telephone support is for basic Internet

Permanent Connection
Accounts

Account
charges are monthly, in advance. Extra traffic charges are billed monthly in
arrears.

There
is no mailbox or homepage space provided.
d.
A set
up fee applies, depending on connection type.
e.
If
payment is not received within 7 days from date of invoice, the account will be
suspended.
f.
Multi-Modem
(Multilink) is available on request at additional charge.
g.
Fixed
Ip addresses and routable subnets are available on request at additional charge.
h. A minimum twelve (12) month contract period
applies. If you terminate your account before the end of contract you will be
liable to pay the amount of the monthly charges for the whole of the plan
period (or the balance of the plan period then remaining), in addition any
actual expense which Acenet has incurred.
i.
Extra

Speed capping must be requested
at the time of application otherwise $55 charge will be applicable.

Unlimited accounts subject to fair
use policy.
h.
Dynamic IP allocation as standard.
i.
Fixed IP available for $11 per
month extra.
j.
6 month minimum contract.
k.
Transfers from an existing DSL
connection incur a $110 fee.
l.
No line rental is included.
m.
An existing Telstra PSTN line is
required.
n.
Not suitable for Mail/Web
servers or VPN use.
o.
Minimum
cost for first month is New Service or Transfer Fee + Install/Modem Fee +
Monthly Fee.
p.
Data
transmission speeds are shown as ‘downstream/upstream’ speeds, for example
256/64 refers to a speed of 256kbps for data being downloaded to your computer
and 64kbps for data uploaded from your computer. These speeds may not be
achieved in some cases; for example, downloading from a site that operates at a
slower speed.
q.
If
you move or change phone numbers you must provide Acenet with 30 days written
notice. Changes will incur a $149 fee. If within 6 months of contract start
date a $99 cancellation fee applies. Your ADSL service will be unavailable for
between 7-14 days until the transfer of service is complete.
r.
Payments
for monthly fees made by cheque or direct deposit must be made for 3 months in
advance.
s.
Acenet
reserves the right to suspend services should outgoing data from the clients
connection exceed three times the download limit or 20Gb, whichever is the
lesser, in any billing period.
t.
ADSL
Home User accounts detected causing excessive flows indicative of virus,
spyware or spam activity are subject to disconnection and suspension. The
account will remain suspended until the problem is rectified.
Application,
Installation and Cancellations
a.
Your
application will not be submitted for provisioning until first payment is
received.
b.
If
your application is accepted, Acenet will endeavour to provide your ADSL Home
service as soon as it can, but it cannot guarantee availability or a date of
commencement.
c.
If
you cancel before your telephone line has been provisioned for the Acenet ADSL
Home service, you will be liable for a cancellation fee of $149, in addition to
any actual expense which Acenet has incurred. If you cancel at any time after
that, you will be liable to pay the amount of the monthly charges for the whole
of the Plan Period (or the balance of the Plan Period then remaining) plus any
other charges incurred up to the time of cancellation.
d.
Your
computer equipment must meet minimum requirements. If you choose to use your
own modem, it must be an approved model and support for configuration of the
modem is not provided.
e.
In
some cases, installation of hardware required for the Acenet ADSL Home service
may void your warranty. You should check with your computer retailer to see if
this applies to you.
f.
The
original operating systems disks or CDs that came with your computer may be
required during the installation process.
g.
If
the original operating system’s disk or CDs are required but not supplied an
Internet setup fee may apply.
h. A minimum six (6) month contract period
applies. A minimum twelve (12) month contract applies to installation payments
over 6 or 12 months. If you terminate your account before the end of contract
you will be liable to pay the amount of the monthly charges for the whole of
the plan period (or the balance of the plan period then remaining), in addition
any actual expense which Acenet has incurred.
i.
Termination
of the account, after the minimum period, must be given in writing with 30 days
notice. Accounts terminated without notice will continue to incur fees until 30
days after written notice is received.
Email
a.

Web Hosting Accounts.
Web Hosting is provided on the following basis.
a.
Web
hosting is provided with the services available for each account type as
detailed on the web hosting option plans.
b.
Account
charges are monthly, quarterly or yearly, in advance.
c.
A once-of
set up fee of $82.50 applies. If an account becomes inactive for over 30 days,
Acenet reserves the right to charge a re-connection / set up fee of $82.50.
d.
If
payment is not received within 7 days from date of invoice, the account (and
any FTP, Mail and/or web access) will be suspended.
e.
Traffic
to and from the website is limited by the type of domain account. Traffic in
excess of the specified traffic will billed to the user at a rate of 15 cents
per Mb.
f.
Data
usage is calculated in megabytes, 1000 megabytes = 1 gigabyte.
g.
Extra
traffic charges are billed monthly in arrears.
Email
a.
Email
is provided with the services available for each account type as detailed on
the web hosting option plans.
b. POP session mail collection schedules/intervals
to Acenet mail servers must be set to a minimum of 10 minutes. Acenet reserves
the right to disconnect any email account collecting POP3 mail at an interval
of less than 10 minutes.
c. Mail left in mailboxes for over 3 months will
be deleted.

period (or the balance of the plan period then remaining), in addition any
actual expense which Acenet has incurred.
b. Termination of the account, after the minimum
period, must be given in writing with 30 days notice. Accounts terminated
without notice will continue to incur fees until 30 days after written notice
is received.
c. Telephone support is for basic domain set-up,
configuration and/or Email set-up.
d. All domain name registrations and renewals are
non-refundable.
