The AcePhone VoIP telephone connects to your ADSL modem using an Ethernet network cable (CAT5) just like your computer. You can use your normal telephone for local calls and the VoIP telephone to call over the internet. ![]() Diagram of AcePhone VoIP telephone setup The other option is to use an AcePhone telephone adapter. The adapter connects to your ADSL modem using an Ethernet network cable (CAT5) like before, however you can then plug a standard telephone into the adapter. There are a range of telephone adapters available including 'smart' ones that can channel local calls through your normal telephone line and long distance calls through the internet. Contact us about choosing the right adapter for you! ![]() Diagram of AcePhone telephone adapter setup
If you wanted to call someone else on the internet you would need to dial their Enum. Enum is an international internet telephone number. Think of it as an Eletronic telephone number just like Email is Eletronic mail. Currently Enum is being trialled in Australia but has already taken off in other parts of the world. Enums, like Domain Names, must be registered every year, currently it is $22 for one year. Your Enum also shares some information about where you are in the world. For example, Acenet's Enum is 61 5900 91411 Australia's country code is 61, the registrar the Enum is registered through is 5900 and we chose 91411 as it is the last 5 digits of our Brisbane telephone number. But you can chose the last 5 digits of your Enum, as long as no one else has it already!
