With Acenet, the setup charges vary depending on how long you stay with us. If you stay for longer, you're rewarded with lower setup fees. Below is a table of Acenet's setup fees and contract periods.

Frequently Asked Questions


How fast will my HiSpeed Broadband be?

Speeds are determined by many factors, such as your distance from the exchange, your line condition, your hardware and software, the source of your download and general internet traffic.


Network testing indicates that around 50% of customers can access speeds between 8 Mbps and 20 Mbps. Speeds above 8 Mbps require network compatible ADSL2+ modem and filters. Speed will be shaped when your monthly download limit is reached.


How does HiSpeed Broadband work?

HiSpeed Broadband works through your existing copper telephone line. Think of it as splitting the line into two parts - half for the internet and half for telephone calls. By utilising the telephone line in this manner, you can reach much higher internet speeds than traditional dialup internet.


It also means that when your ADSL modem connects to the internet, it doesn't cost you a local call!


What do I need to access HiSpeed Broadband?

You will need an ADSL2+ compatible modem - dialup modems will not work with this technology. ADSL2+ compatible filters are required on all telephone telephone devices connected to the telephone line.


What are ADSL2+ filters?

Because ADSL2+ works on a different part of the telephone line, other telephone devices (telephones/faxes/modems) need filters to remove the ADSL2+ noise from the line. If you do not have filters installed on every device, your HiSpeed Broadband connection may drop off and/or modem noises may be audible during telephone calls.


How will I receive my bill?

Acenet will email out your telephone and internet bill. We can arrange an automatic deduction from your bank account or Credit card, alternatively we accept payment by Cheque, Australian Money Order or Direct Deposit. If you visit our office in Murarrie, Brisbane, you could also pay by Cash or Eftpos.


How long does it take?

Once Acenet has received your completed application form with payment, it will be a minimum of fourteen (14) days before your telephone and HiSpeed Broadband service are transferred and available for use.


This process can be delayed in some circumstances for example, where incompatible equipment requires an upgrade. Unfortunately HiSpeed Broadband services are not available to every household and connection cannot be guaranteed. If HiSpeed Broadband is not available in your area, all monies are refunded and contracts dissolved.
